Draft Kit: Rookie Mock Draft (SF/TEP)
Evan and Jase get you ready for SF/TEP rookie drafts with their 5-round mock draft.
Most dynasty managers understand which players will be selected in the first round of their rookie drafts. Maybe even the first two rounds. But what happens when the top 20 players (or so) are off the board? That’s where your mettle will be tested.
This is especially true in superflex, tight end premium leagues that use IDPs. There just aren’t a lot of resources out there to help guide your decision-making.
So, we’re here to help. Evan Ringler and Jase Abbey teamed up for a 5-round, SF/TEP rookie mock draft. Evan took the odd picks, Jase took the evens, and they shared their rationale for each pick below. Keep in mind: we also have SF/TEP rookie rankings.
Without further ado, let’s get to the picks!
1.01: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Raiders
Landing in Las Vegas is a positive for Jeanty’s value in dynasty. I expect him to see elite volume immediately, and the offense is primed to take a leap. This offseason, the Raiders offense has replaced Gardner Minshew with Geno Smith, Luke Getsy with Chip Kelly, and Alexander Mattison with Ashton Jeanty. These colossal improvements will drag this offense back to league average, and Jeanty will finish as a top 5 fantasy RB as a rookie.
1.02: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Jaguars
My WR1—and arguably the best player in the draft—landed with a team that immediately made it clear they plan to feature him on offense. The Jaguars now have an offensive-minded head coach in Liam Coen, a rising weapon in Brian Thomas Jr. who will help Hunter avoid being double-teamed, and a quarterback in Trevor Lawrence who, with Hunter and new OC Grant Udinski (a former QB coach) in the mix, could be headed for a career year. I’m all in—and that’s before even considering the bonus defensive points Hunter could rack up if he gets snaps at corner.
1.03: Omarion Hampton, RB, Chargers
To me, this pick is a no-brainer. Hampton is a very good, versatile RB prospect that just got 1st round draft capital to an elite landing spot. The Chargers boast an improved OL with huge potential, a great QB-WR duo, and a run-first approach from HC Jim Harbaugh and OC Greg Roman. The 1st round price tag is a virtual guarantee that Hampton will be a bellcow throughout his rookie contract, and the strong ecosystem will allow him to thrive in this role. He could even outproduce Jeanty!
1.04: Cam Ward, QB, Titans
Ward is the only quarterback locked in as a starter, his arm talent is undeniable, and his experience in a pro-style offense should help him hit the ground running. I'm a little uneasy about the Titans’ shaky O-line, even with Zeitler now in the mix—a combo that could lead to some rough patches in 2024. Minor concerns aside, I was more than happy to stick to my board and grab Ward at No. 4.
