Walking the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 5
Let's try to find some diamonds in the rough on the IDP waiver wire!
What a crazy Week 4! We saw many high-scoring games, great individual performances on both sides of the ball, and of course, some IDPs who stepped up and deserve a shout-out for their efforts. These players can be additions to your squad to help you in Week 5—and beyond. Let’s dive into this week’s waiver wire.
Defensive Line
Previous Weeks: Gregory Rousseau, Alex Highsmith, Dominique Robinson, Rasheem Green, Dre’mont Jones, Justin Jones, Deatrich Wise Jr, BJ Hill, Shy Tuttle
Kayvon Thibodeaux, New York Giants
Kayvon Thibodeaux could be this year’s cheat code for your fantasy football roster. Lining up as a true off-the-ball linebacker is not typically the best position to rack up stats unless your name is TJ Watt, but in many leagues, Thibodeaux is DL eligible, which could prove lucrative for managers. He provides a very safe floor, and once he gets his pro legs under him, he brings an elite-level ceiling. In Week 3, he played 58% of snaps (37). In Week 4, he jumped to 74% of snaps (46). If this trend can continue to climb and he can hover at or around 85% of snaps as a rookie, he will for sure start to make an impact. I was shocked I was able to grab him off waivers in one league.
Zach Allen, Arizona Cardinals
Zach Allen is one of those names that’s always right there on the waivers and you never know if you should add him or not. Well, you should look to add him to your roster now. Allen was off to a slow start this season, statistically speaking, but was playing a great number of snaps. Eventually, Allen was going to start producing some stats with all those snaps—and he did just that in Week 4. Allen was making Baker Mayfield’s life miserable racking up 6 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 passes defended. Allen seems to have his legs under him after having ankle surgery this past January.
