Walking the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 6

Bye weeks are coming, which makes these waiver wire additions even more valuable!

Week 5 provided us with some crazy performances on both sides of the ball; we had several players exceed expectations and help carry our teams to victory, and of course, we had some crap the bed. Hopefully, you didn’t have too many of those players in your lineups. If that wasn’t bad enough, we have the dreaded bye weeks upon us. Look to take advantage of some managers who might be dropping or more willing to trade a player who has a bye week coming up. Sometimes, throwing a comment on a trade offer, like “He has his bye this week” might help a deal get done.

With that said, let’s take a look at this week’s additions.

Defensive Line  

Previous Weeks: Gregory Rousseau, Alex Highsmith, Dominique Robinson, Rasheem Green, Dre’mont Jones, Justin Jones, Deatrich Wise Jr, BJ Hill, Shy Tuttle, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Zach Allen, Jihad Ward 

Dexter Lawrence, New York Giants  

Dexter Lawrence has been playing a ton of snaps at the defensive tackle position, so for leagues that start or require a DT spot, Lawrence is a must-add. Lawrence has increased his snap percentage from 70% in Week 1 to 90% in Weeks 4 and 5. That is an insane snap count for anyone on the defensive line, let alone a DT! Playing that many snaps greatly increases a player’s chance for tackles and big plays, which Lawrence has been getting each and every week. With Baltimore, Jacksonville, and Seattle on deck in the next 3 weeks, look for Lawrence to continue his hot start.  

Dorance Armstrong, Dallas Cowboys 

With all the stars on the defensive line for the Dallas Cowboys, it’s easy to overlook Dorance Armstrong. Armstrong is keeping pace for snaps with other standouts on the line such as Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence. Being in this rotation has helped keep them all fresh and helped them all be productive in the stat column on a weekly basis. Armstrong is currently top 10 in sacks in the NFL. Not only is Armstrong getting to the QB with sacks and pressures, but he is also making his presence felt in the run game. I am very intrigued with the upcoming schedule with division rival Philly this week, and then Detroit and Chicago after that.
