IDP Waiver Wire: Week 15

The bye weeks are officially over and not a moment too soon. With last-minute players being placed on the COVID list and players being released from teams, IDP managers need all the available players we can have heading into the final weeks of the season. If you made the playoffs: congrats!

In a season unlike any other, you’ve gotten to work making trades and acquiring talent off the waiver wires. Hopefully, some of these additions can help your season last just a few weeks longer. With that, let’s take a look at this week’s gems!

Defensive Line

Davon Godchaux, New England Patriots

Davon Godchaux has been absolutely blowing up the stat sheets over the last few weeks and I fully expect that to continue when he returns from his bye this week. Godchaux may be an overlooked addition this week since he is two weeks removed from his monster 10-tackle performance against the Buffalo Bills on TNF. With games against Indy and Buffalo in the next two weeks, look for Godchaux to continue his pace to be one of the top weekly DL scorers.

Justin Jones, Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Jones isn’t the sexiest name on the Chargers D-Line. With Nick Bosa and Jeremy Tillery commanding that attention (and double teams), Jones is just fine letting them take on both of those roles. He has been playing a good majority of snaps over the past few weeks, especially since Week 6.

Jones has been consistent with his tackle numbers over that span and with matchups against some porous offensive lines, it makes Jones even more appealing.

Defensive Backs

Grant Delpit, Cleveland Browns

Ever since the Browns selected Grant Delpit in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft, there was a huge buzz about him stepping in and being the next big thing. Unfortunately, injuries have sidelined him being just that. Over the last few weeks, Delpit has started ramping up his snap counts, and as a result, so too has his production.

With Rodney Harrison being sidelined himself this last weekend, the door swung wide open for Delpit to step in and be that big “ting” and boy was he ever! It is going to be very hard for the Browns to keep Delpit’s snaps limited going forward and that is great news for those of us who can roster him.

Aaron Robinson, New York Giants

The Giants are a disaster. There is no way around it—outside of being maybe the most conditioned team with Coach Joe Judge’s constant running program at practice, this team has little to offer… or do they? Aaron Robinson has been a goldmine in the secondary since he has replaced Adoree’ Jackson the last few weeks.

Playing opposite of James Bradberry, opposing offensive coordinators have been targeting him in their game plans. Again, I’m not saying Robinson is a lockdown corner, but IDP managers want that kind of attention for their CBs. Robinson has 22 tackles and 3 pass breakups in the last 3 weeks. With Dallas and Philly due up next, Robinson should continue to see plenty of opportunities to stuff the stat book.

Linebackers

Josh Woods, Detroit Lions

The revolving door that is the Detroit Lions linebackers continues to spin on. This week, we have Josh Woods, who came to the Lions via the Bears this past offseason. Woods is a solid special teamer, but with Alex Anzalone sidelined with an ankle injury, it was Woods who stepped up and played 94% of the snaps while racking up 13 combined tackles. Woods is not a flashy player or one to invest in the long term, but if you are looking for an LB3 for your playoffs, Woods is more than serviceable.

Ja’Whaun Bentley, New England Patriots

TJ Edwards, Philadelphia Eagles

Both Ja’Whaun Bentley of the Patriots and TJ Edwards of the Eagles are both coming off great games in Week 13, which was two weeks ago. Some owners may have dropped them to fill a need for this last week or maybe have passed them over for players who were active in Week 14. Regardless, both need to be rostered and starting for your teams. Both players are rostered in less than 20% of leagues, with Bentley in less than 10%. That makes me sad, but it might just make you happy!

Well, kids, there you have this week’s waiver wire wonders. I hope they are available and can help you bring home the championship this season.

As always, thanks for reading, and please feel free to DM me those start/sit questions and those trade ideas for the offseason. Or, if your league does not have a trade deadline, trade ideas for the last few weeks of the season.

Until next time, stay safe and enjoy the four days of football this week!
