IDP Waiver Wire: Week 10

Week 10 already? Let's see who's out on there on IDP waivers...

It’s crazy to think that we’re now in the double-digit weeks of the NFL season. Makes me a bit sad, more I think about it. Hopefully, your squad is in the thick of a playoff push and looking for that final piece to go from a contender to a champion! Hope you can find some of these players on your waivers who can help make that happen.

Defensive Line

Linval Joseph, Los Angles Chargers

When you’re thinking about who has been a top 5 DL over the past 3 weeks and a top 15-ish over the course of the season, you could guess all day and never come up with the 12-year pro, Linval Joseph. Joseph has 16 solos, 6 assists, and a sack over the past 3 weeks. Joseph has been scoring very consistently this season, racking up more points in some leagues than Joey Bosa and Aaron Donald.

The best part? He’s currently rostered in 5% of leagues.

Arik Armstead, San Francisco 49ers

Finally getting healthy and playing over 70% of snaps in the last 3 games, Arik Armstead is starting to make plays that the 49ers saw in him when they drafted him in the first round in 2015. Like Joseph, Armstead has been scoring well in the last 3 weeks and is rostered less than Joseph. With a sweet run of matchups on deck for the 49ers DL, now is time to add Armstead and enjoy the ride!

Defensive Backs

Xavier McKinney, New York Giants

When the Giants drafted Xavier McKinney in the second round from Alabama, many were curious where and when he would get his chance to play. With Jabrill Peppers missing time, it has opened the door for McKinney to play nearly 100% of the plays and to establish himself as a playmaker, which he definitely did this past weekend against Raiders when he housed a pick-six for the G Men!

Ashtyn Davis, New York Jets

For your next waiver wire add, we do not have to travel very far… actually, they play their home games in the same stadium. The Jets have been hammered by the injury bug this season, leading many to wonder what’s wrong with the turf (or trainers).

Losing Marcus Maye this last weekend to a torn Achilles only makes matters worse. Maye’s unfortunate ending to his season gives Ashtyn Davis his huge opportunity to continue to build on a great outing last Thursday night against the Colts when Davis had 10 combined tackles and 2—count ‘em, 2—forced fumbles.

Linebackers

TJ Edwards, Philadelphia Eagles

With the release of Eric Wilson, the Eagles have turned their every-down linebacker role to for former Wisconsin Badger, TJ Edwards. Edwards is no stranger to being an IDP asset as he had a run last season but was soon passed by guys like Wilson and Alex Singleton. Edwards is now back in the starting lineup and putting up huge stats: 25 combined tackles in the past 2 weeks. The third-year pro is just learning the position and is a great stash on your roster for years to come.

Josh Bynes, Baltimore Ravens

Josh Bynes is a classic example of IDP production being all about opportunity. Patrick Queen has had trouble making plays and playing out of position all season and the coaching staff in Baltimore is not having it. Bynes has definitely been making the plays in Queen’s absence, scoring double-digit points over the last three contests. Bynes’ snap count is also slowly increasing each week, which only adds to the confidence in starting him as an LB2/3 in your lineups.

Neville Hewitt, Houston Texans

No write-up needed, posted about Hewitt preseason related to Kirksey’s healthy. Shocker, but guess who is hurt? That’s right, baby! Moving on.
