Adam's Updated Dynasty IDP Rankings
January is a time to evaluate your rosters and make some trades as you prepare to dominate in 2022. To help you out, here are Adam's latest IDP rankings.
The fantasy football season might be over, but for dynasty players, the fun is just beginning. January is team evaluation/trade/prospect SZN, and to help you dominate this first month of 2022, we’re dropping Adam’s updated dynasty IDP rankings.
You can find those rankings as part of The IDP Show Draft Kit.
Below, Bobby weighs in on Adam’s rankings, giving his thoughts on some of the spiciest players to crack the top 50 (and playing a little buy, sell, hold).
Micah Parsons, LB, Dallas Cowboys
Let’s address the elephant in the room: Micah Parsons, his 84 tackles and 13 sacks, all in just his rookie season. Parsons was the LB2 in Big3 scoring leagues behind only T.J. Watt. Is he a good sell-high after his rookie season, like Devin White and Darius Leonard were? Or do just hold him and profit for the next decade?
(Yeah… I’m holding too.)
Brian Burns, EDGE, Carolina Panthers
Adam had an epic call this past offseason when he predicted Burns would have a career year. Burns didn’t disappoint in 2021, leading the Panthers with 9 sacks and 2 FF. Is Burns a good sell for 2022? Unless it’s an insane offer, I think not.
Burns is just 23 years old and looks like an ascending DE.
Derwin James, Safety, Los Angeles Chargers
Derwin James: Comeback Player of the Year? If it were up to Jon Macri and myself, the answer would clearly be a resounding yes. Derwin was nothing short of excellent in his first year with Brandon Staley, recording 103 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 INTs. This kind of performance is going to leave managers longing for more in 2022.
Josh Allen, EDGE, Jacksonville Jaguars
Managing Josh Allen in 2021 felt much like riding a roller coaster at Disney World. The highs were high—to the tune of 31 points—but the valleys were low: he put up a soul-crushing 1 point in Week 13. What managers do with Josh Allen going into 2022 is going to be at the forefront of the IDP conversation.
Jonathan Greenard, EDGE, Houston Texans
Greenard was one of the lone bright spots in Houston this year. With 8 sacks in a 9 game stretch in 2021, Greenard was also a waiver wire darling for IDP managers. The question is: will you hold onto him for 2022 or trade him for an offensive piece?
Buy, Sell, Hold
Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, New York Giants
Ojulari had 8 sacks in 2021, which is an epic season for a rookie. His light has just been dimmed a bit by what Micah Parsons has been doing at EDGE. Ojulari broke the Giants rookie sack record of 6.5—a feat he managed back on December 5th.
Odafe Oweh, EDGE, Baltimore Ravens
Oweh has a lower tackle floor than Ojulari and Tryon-Shoyinka, but he still has great sack upside, especially in primetime games. His stat line of 5 sacks, 3 FF, and 2 FR in 2021 will leave fantasy managers with stars in their eyes in 2022.
Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, EDGE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Out of these three, Tryon-Shoyinka could see the highest snap percentage increase in 2022. If he sees that increase, could he get more than the 4 sacks he has in 2021?
My verdict: Buy Tryon-Shoyinka, Hold Ojulari, Sell Oweh
Buy, Sell, Hold
Jamin Davis, LB, Washington Football Team
IDP managers would like to forget the year that wasn’t for Davis. With Davis only seeing 3 games of more than 50 snaps, Washington clearly wanted to take a cautious approach with their talented LB. Will we see more of his 4.37 speed in 2022?
Zaven Collins, LB, Arizona Cardinals
Collins reminds us, much like Isaiah Simmons, not to put too much stock into what Arizona decision-makers say during the off-season about their LBs. While Zaven had flashes of brilliance in the preseason, he only saw more than 30 snaps in 2 games. If Arizona moves on from Hicks in 2022, those two tall trees may finally grow.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Cleveland Browns
JOK might be the most surprising IDP rookie performer in 2021. When healthy, he’s shown flashes of dominance. With his sideline-to-sideline speed, tacking style reminiscent of Bob Sanders, and 1.5 sacks, the Browns have a keeper in JOK.
My verdict: Buy Collins, Hold Owusu-Koramoah, Sell Davis
