Whether gearing up for the playoffs or starting to gear up for next season in dynasty leagues, it pays to stay on top of the waiver wire every week. Don’t let complacency set in; keep improving your rosters.

We all play in leagues of varying depth—with different IDPs on the waiver wire—so I’m going to identify IDP waiver targets at each position for shallow, average, and deep leagues. I’m using data from PFF and NFL Pro. Rostership percentage (in parentheses) is from Sleeper dynasty leagues. Any reference to fantasy points per game is based on Big 3 Scoring.

Let’s dive into this week’s targets.

Linebacker

Shallow: Nakobe Dean, LB, Philadelphia Eagles (63%)

After three straight weeks of hovering near 65% of snaps, Nakobe Dean looks to have re-established himself as the primary LB2 for Philadelphia. He played 82.4% of snaps this past weekend and has been producing steady if not spectacular numbers. Since returning from injury, Dean is averaging just over 5 tackles per game as he has ramped up and has recorded a sack in each of his last three outings. His next two matchups are appealing.

The Eagles play the Bears this week and the Chargers next week. Both teams are giving up more than 17 tackles per game to opposing linebackers. Caleb Williams has only been sacked 17 times all year, so Week 13 may not provide another sack, but Week 14 against Justin Herbert could be a breakout opportunity against one of the most injured offensive lines in the league.

Dean offers a safe floor of around 10 points this week with a strong chance for more, and he has good Week 14 upside. In shallow leagues dealing with linebacker injuries, Dean remains available in many places and is worth adding.

Average: Germaine Pratt, LB, Indianapolis Colts (46%)

Germaine Pratt has been on an very strong run, playing at least 85% of snaps in each of the last three weeks. In that stretch, he has tallied 35 tackles and delivered a massive 20 tackle, 42 point performance in Week 12. The two weeks prior, he posted 17 and 16 points, showing that his recent output is more than just a one-game spike. Pratt has also earned an 80 or higher tackle grade in each of the last four weeks and has not missed a single tackle since Week 7.

In Week 13, he faces Houston, the second-best team in the league for tackles allowed to opposing linebackers. If you play in an average or even a shallow league, check your waiver wire to see if Pratt is somehow still out there. If he is, you can feel very comfortable starting him this week.
