2024 IDP Waiver Wire: Week 9
Mike Woellert identifies the IDP targets on this week's waiver wire.
The bye weeks return in Week 9. Looking at this past week, we have, as usual, a few injuries to monitor, especially Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. There are also some role changes to take advantage of.
If you need to make some adjustments, that’s what we’re here for. Let’s look ahead to Week 9 and the names you need to be aware of off your IDP waiver wire.
Linebacker
Omar Speights, Los Angeles Rams
Aces and Speights should be the name of the Rams’ LB room — a callback to the TNA heel faction, Aces and Eights. I think I’d rather take a chance on the upside of Speights over the next few weeks.
Troy Reeder is on IR and will miss the next 4 games. Christian Rozeboom got the full-time role but graded out at 40.2 while Speights received a 67.7 grade. Yes, Speights received a 50.9 grade in coverage, but it was still better than Rozeboom’s 36.4. Two of his tackles resulted in defensive stops for the defense and negative EPA (expected points added).
While this play resulted in a TD, I think Speights does a good job of taking away Darnold’s first read:
I also liked this play from Speights. He doesn’t wait for the run to develop. He hits the gap past the blocker and gets the tackle on Aaron Jones:
I know I say follow the snaps and Speights had just a 44% snap rate, but I just think he provides more upside as a player and could see more playing at Rozeboom’s expense. He recorded 0.32 fantasy points per snap and an 18.2% tackle rate, so I’m betting on the talent here.
