2024 IDP Waiver Wire: Week 7
Mike Woellert identifies the IDP targets on this week's waiver wire.
Well, the Injury Reaper, like the Undertaker, took souls in Week 6. After a quiet Week 5, injuries hit with a vengeance. Prayers and thoughts out to Aidan Hutchinson for a speedy recovery, but not too speedy. I’m hoping he doesn’t feel the pressure to come back too soon and risk setbacks. Jonathan Allen is also out for the year with a torn pectoral, leaving a big hole in the middle of Washington’s defense.
In addition to injuries, we have poor play and role changes to consider.
Need to make some adjustments? That’s what we’re here to help with. Without further ado, let’s look ahead to Week 7’s IDP waiver wire targets.
Linebacker
Krys Barnes, Arizona Cardinals
Well, we’re at the “recommend Krys Barnes” portion of the season and it’s only Week 7.
Keep an eye on Kyzir White’s knee injury this week. White played 21 snaps before exiting and it was Barnes who came on and appeared in 100% of the snaps post-White injury. Barnes was all over the field and made hustle tackles downfield.
PFF graded him below average, but he missed on one tackle and yielded just 5.5 yards per catch. Here was one of his better plays of the day, where he got a good jump off the snap and made the tackle on Josh Jacobs:
He recorded a 16.7% tackle rate and a TFL, resulting in 9 tackles. Barnes is good in spurts and while he hasn’t been a true three-down player in his career, he is good in spot start duty. He looks to have a three-down role if White misses time because he took over the green dot, so 100% of the snaps appear likely.
