2024 IDP Waiver Wire: Week 4
Mike Woellert identifies the IDP targets on this week's waiver wire.
I have a feeling, this is most of our FAAB after Week 3 waivers ran:
Hopefully, you have a little more than that. We had another big injury that we’ll need to monitor throughout the week. Jacksonville LB, Foyesade Oluokun, suffered a foot injury that knocked him out of the game against Buffalo. The game was out of hand, so it made no sense for him to return. We’ll also need to keep an eye on David Long, Alex Highsmith, Kwity Paye, and Joey Bosa. Unfortunately, we’re unable to turn the injuries off and we’re only heading into Week 4.
Let’s look ahead to this week’s IDP waiver wire targets.
Linebacker
Jahlani Tavai, LB, New England Patriots
Ja’Whaun Bentley suffered a torn pectoral in the Week 2 loss against the Seahawks. I mentioned Jahlani Tavai in the green dot article and he looked okay in Week 3.
I had a feeling Tavai would get the three-down role, but it sounded like Jerod Mayo was going to keep it on Kyle Dugger. However, Tavai wore the dot in Week 3 and looks to be the signal caller going forward. Tavai was on for 100% of the snaps and is assured of a three-down role for the remainder of the year (as long as he keeps the dot).
Tavai was solid in run defense and was credited with 3 defensive stops and PFF graded him with a 63.9 grade. After recording 8 tackles through the first two games, he recorded 9 tackles and a 12.3% tackle rate.
This was his best play of the night, as he just slides past the center to get the TFL on Breece Hall.
Tavai has recorded a 12.7% tackle rate over the last two seasons, including a 13.1% tackle rate last season. He needs to clean up his missed tackles, as he already has 5 in three games. His role in the defense makes him a high-priority pickup and is looking like an LB3 with a relatively safer floor.
