2024 IDP Waiver Wire: Week 2
Mike Woellert identifies the IDP targets on this week's waiver wire.
Think back to the 90s and that #1 hit from TLC, and heed the advice from the talented and forward-thinking trio:
“Don't go chasing those box scores,
Please stick to the snaps and the stats that you're used to”
As the kids say these days, that song was a banger. It’s important to remain disciplined, patient, and not chase the scores from potentially volatile players.
A few clunker performances (looking at you Jonathan Greenard, Patrick Queen, and Kyle Hamilton) and a few big injuries are coming out. Derrick Brown could be out for the year and Antoine Winfield Jr. could miss a few weeks with an ankle injury.
In terms of the defenders who disappointed you, don’t go dropping these guys. I’ve got your injury replacements covered in this week’s IDP waiver wire.
Linebacker
Zack Baun, Philadelphia Eagles
Zack Baun looks like a new linebacker in Vic Fangio’s defense. He was on the field for 100% of the snaps against the Packers in Week 1 and the production followed.
Baun was all over the field. He took on contact, while also reading and reacting to what he saw, making good, physical tackles. Baun was sent in on 13 pass-rush snaps and generated a 30.8% pressure rate which resulted in 2 sacks. On his second sack, he does a good job of keeping his head up and not losing sight of Willis:
Baun finished with a 22.4% tackle rate, resulting in 15 tackles.
Now, is Baun going to record 15 tackles a game? Probably not. However, he looks like a three-down LB in Fangio’s defense. If he’s on your wire, I’m putting him as a priority and dropping guys like Cody Barton or Jack Campbell for him.
